Hello Westergard Families!

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! My name is Sherri Axelson, president of the Westergard Elementary School PTO. We are so excited to welcome our new principal, Mrs. Bain, and can’t wait to work with her this year!

First off, we are eliminating the annual PTO membership fee. In the past, the fee may have discouraged some parents to join. Westergard has many amazing families, and we hope you will join the PTO and be a part of the great things we do for our students, teachers and staff! Last year, the PTO raised enough funds to: provide Hover Cams to all the classrooms; update and improve the Accelerated Reader program for the library; continue to provide funding for Westergard’s PE program; and present Mr. Chronister with a check for $5,000 for the Principal’s Discretionary Fund. This would not have possible without your help and support.

There is much more to do, and we hope to increase our fundraising this year as our school needs help now more than ever! Donations of time, services, goods, money, or even ideas are greatly appreciated! Some of the things you can look forward to include old favorites like Oodles of Noodles; Santaland; Halloween Bingo; and Teacher Appreciation Week; along with new events like our Winter Luau and Halloween Sock Hop. Additionally, we will be sponsoring both a Student of the Month program and a Teacher of the Month program! We hope to see you at our meetings.

Your opinions and ideas are truly important to us. This is our school and we want to make it the best possible for everyone! Thank you!
